“Christians and Politics: Biblical Principles for Discerning Engagement”
Lately, politics seems more divisive and more unsavory than in times past. Neither side appears to hear or understand the other side. Often, it looks like the two parties make no attempt to work together for the betterment of the nation. In addition to these concerns, the rhetoric of today leaves little room for principled disagreement. In a representative democracy founded on the idea that while citizens will disagree on what is best for the nation, they will work through those disagreements within the arena of political discourse, it seems the very foundation of the system is crumbling. Interestingly, Christians have a long history of involvement in the political system, sometimes effectively and sometimes not so effectively. How can Christians engage in these difficult times as not only effective, but also biblically principled citizens? Scripture has plenty to say to help the Body of Christ pursue truly biblical political involvement. This year’s “Integrating Our Faith” event provides a unique opportunity to address these critical issues/questions with a prominent scholar and author, Dr. Thomas Mach.
Dr. Mach serves as Vice President for Academics & Chief Academic Officer and Professor of History at Cedarville University. He has authored numerous books and publications including Transforming Minds and Integrating Faith and Learning in History and Government. You will not want to miss this rare privilege of hearing Dr. Thomas Mach!
While this event is free of charge, our seating is limited. Thus, registration is required to ensure an available seat at this dessert reception. Adults only please.
